Fighting Insecurity with Blessing

What is driving the man you are becoming?

Absent of a secure blessing, a lot of men are spending their lives trying to prove they are men. More money. More influence. More strength. More success. More respect. But if your masculinity has to be constantly validated by the world, then the world owns you.

The gospel offers a radically different foundation. “You do not need the world to tell you, ‘You’re the man.’ You need God to tell you, ‘You’re my man.’” (Cunningham). Through Christ, your identity is no longer built on performance, comparison, or approval. It is rooted in the security of being known, loved, and received by the Father.

Fear and insecurity can fuel impressive accomplishments, but they cannot produce the life God designed you to live. It can also quietly control you. The man God is forming you into is not fueled by the fear that you have something to prove, but by the settled confidence that in Christ you have already been given what you most need in the heavenly Father’s blessing, “You are my beloved son, and with you I am well pleased.”
