We’re not meant to walk alone.

I often enjoy a nice walk listening to a sermon or a podcast episode on the latest biblical topic I am exploring and the Lord is good to use that time for growing my faith. We are blessed at this point in history with un-rivaled access to content and resources to help grow us in Christian maturity. It is good and right for us to take advantage of these resources that are at our fingertips, and yet, I’ve started trading my walks alone for something better.

Instead of walking alone listening to someone who does not know me, I’ve started walking with a fellow brother in Christ whose voice has potential for greater impact in my walk with Christ because he knows me. He sees my life. He asks me tough questions about my marriage, my parenting, my devotion to Christ, and where I must confess sin or that I am falling short, he responds with truth and accountability because he cares about my growth as a follower of Christ and I, his.

Now this is literal walking, but you get the point that I am suggesting our spiritual walks with Christ should not be pursued alone, but together.

We have several avenues for discipleship at The Vine through joining study groups, life groups, serving on ministry teams and gathering for worship, but I want to challenge you - are you showing up to the right things, but still going at it alone?

I’ve been showing up now for 5 years every Friday morning for a study group, growing immensely while in the Word with other men. The fellowship is there, the challenge, the conviction, mutual encouragement, etc., and yet I’ve still felt that I am going at it alone. I recognized that while I surrounded myself in the right spaces with others, I still needed to invite a few brothers into my life for sharing wisdom, encouragement, prayer, and accountability to grow as a disciple of Christ.

In Scripture, we see that we are called to intentionally seek out discipleship from other Christians whom we can learn from and imitate. We want to help people experience how this can be done because many of us may be wanting this type of discipleship with and from others, but don't know what to do or how to get started.

Flourish is an 8-week class where we will model this together in discipleship groups to demystify what discipleship looks like and how we can all get started with this on our own. So, if you've been seeking deeper fellowship and discipleship with others, this is a great opportunity to get started!

Join yourself or register with 2-3 others that you’d like to learn to do this with and flourish in God’s grace together.
